Staying Focused on the Bodybuilding Effort
Expect! One of the greatest tenets that you can adopt into your bodybuilding training is the nature of constantly expecting results. Of course no empty effort is rewarded. If you decide to expect that your muscles will grow to the proportions that you desire without lifting a barbell or hoisting a dumbbell then you will get nowhere. Positive expectations are met with equally handsome rewards. When you expect that your muscles will grow to impressive levels after you have done a thorough workout then chances that you will succeed become a reality.
Expectations are good but they must not be allowed to become random and misplaced. To avoid this you can start maintaining a goal log that will detail your weekly progress. This is an effective tool that has been used by many a pro bodybuilder to meet their targets. The concept is very simple. You just set an achievable target and give yourself a feasible time period in which to meet the set goal. For example you may want to increase your biceps say be an inch within a dozen weeks.
By indicating this in your log you will be able to mark off the progress as time goes by (with respect to the goal level for every week). At the end of the set time interval you will be able to ascertain if indeed you were able to meet your target. It is very motivating to set yourself in an underdog position; this will give an added impetus to the body and mind because you will always want to get to the set target.
In similar fashion, maintaining a training diary and log can be very beneficial. Everything that is done in the gym with respect to the bodybuilding effort is meticulously recorded in the log. What good does such a log do? It helps you as the bodybuilder to assess your progress over a stipulated time period. By referring to the log you will be able to see the days when you really made progress and the days in which you were less productive. By establishing a pattern based on these results you will be able to make inferences that will help you come up with an optimal and personal training pattern.
The third suggestion that you can adopt into the bodybuilding effort is conditioning the brain to desist from making matters complicated. In other words you should stick to the basics. People tend to be distracted by pieces of information that come and go. They forget about the basics and follow strange and ineffective methods that cause them to falter. Ask yourself what the basics of bodybuilding are. You don’t need to think your head off; they are quite simple.
First of all you have to realize that muscle growth and development is achieved through disciplined training. This will prompt you to go to the gym when you are required to. Secondly you know that to gain muscle you are required to eat healthily in addition to the training. Here again you will always select the best foods that suit your purpose. Thirdly, you know that the bodybuilder needs to get adequate rest to promote muscle development. You will always try to get enough rest and sleep as a result. What more is needed for success? I wonder.
