The Use of Protein Supplements in Bodybuilding
There are so many types of protein supplements in the market and they are being advertised in very attractive sales pitches. This is one factor that often serves to mislead prospective users. One of the main issues about the sales pitches is that they deliver a picture to the effect that using the product will automatically transform you into a muscle-bound hunk in record time. This is very far from the truth. What you should take for fact however is the notion that a muscular physique is developed through hard work, dedication and patience. The use of protein supplements is welcome but the users should know that these are means to an end and not an end in themselves.
Note that in order for you physique to grow big and muscular you will have to improve on your training, making it as disciplined and thorough as possible. Your diet too will have to be balanced as possible. Supply the body with all the nutrients that it requires and you will be good to go. This article will highlight some of the protein supplements that you can use to augment the daily intake of protein bearing in mind that these are the building blocks of the muscle groups.
First of all there is whey-protein isolate. This is the costlier form of whey protein. The main difference between this supplement and whey protein is that the former contains extremely low levels of lactose and fats. The low lactose is thus very good for the lactose intolerant. As concerns the fat, it depends on the person using the supplement. Fats are required for muscle building and thus it can’t be that bad. What a bodybuilder needs to be on the lookout for however is the consumption of carbohydrates. Unhealthy sources of carbohydrate are the driving forces behind our obese population. In summary, it is quite in order to say that this particular product is a suitable supplement in as far as protein supply is concerned.
The second of these is the whey protein-concentrate. This makes for a popular choice among supplement users. The product is quite cheap and therefore affordable to a many people. Whey protein-concentrate is a product of cheese and it is really a good source of both fats and those vital amino acids needed for bodybuilding. The importance of fat in our diets needs to be surveyed again. There is a common misconception that all fats are unhealthy and as such they should be struck of from our diets.
This is a very erroneous point of view. Fats play a critical role in the bodybuilding process. They are responsible for the in assisting the body during the process of protein recovery and synthesis. It is a vital process that every bodybuilder needs to capitalize upon for improved results.
Proteins are needed for the growth and development of the muscle mass. They should form a huge part of the bodybuilders diet i.e. as much as 35-40 percent of the daily calorific intake.
